Introducing an exciting new recruitment model for the oil and gas industry

By Site Owner

Oil and Gas.PNG

Oil and Gas People is different from other oil and gas recruitment sites. We follow a totally new model that has been designed from the offset to offer a better solution to candidates and recruiters. The site has been developed by people who work in the industry and have a real understanding of the frustration often felt by job seekers and recruiters, when using existing recruitment sites.

Traditional oil recruitment sites charge recruiters an arm and a leg, for access to their candidate databases and for job postings. They are inefficient and out dated, often creating lots of extra work for recruiters as they have to manually sort through hundreds of CV’s many of which wont even meet the basic requirements for the advertised position. When searching candidates it’s impossible to know which are available and which are not. Many hours are spent cold calling candidates and screening people by email and phone. It’s a process which is expensive, frustrating, time consuming and thanks to www.oilandgaspeople.com, now outdated!

From a candidate point of view, just how frustrating is it? having to search through job sites every day, looking for the latest positions, filling out cover letters and applying for jobs. Often you won’t even receive a response or acknowledgment. How about all the irrelevant job alerts that fill your inbox and cold calls you receive about positions that are of no interest to you.

Oil and Gas People solves all of these problems and more! With our site, recruiters post positions for free and are then automatically matched to suitable candidates who meet their exact requirements. Candidates build detailed profiles on the site that offer a complete insight into their requirements, training, qualifications, availability and work history. A sample candidate profile can be viewed here

These profiles are visible to recruiters minus a candidates contact details, totally free of charge. After posting a position on the site, recruiters can instantly view all the candidates profiles who most closely meet their requirements. They then click just one button to send there job description to their chosen candidates. Candidates contact details are safe until they view the position and decide to be put forward. After accepting a position all candidates contact details and certificates will be available to the recruiter. They even receive an edited CV which they can forward to the end client totally free of charge!!

Recruiters will only ever pay a fee when a candidate is matched to a position and accepted into the role or for an interview. We give recruiters the best possible chance of a return for their money before charging them. By the time they need to pay a fee they will have confirmed their interest in the candidate, the candidates will have confirmed their interest in the role and the job will have confirmed their interest in the candidate. It’s a unique three match process that is instant and totally free to every recruiter and candidate.

Other sites constantly publish figures about how many candidates they have in their database. What use is hundreds of thousands of registered users, if only ten percent of them are actually available at any given time? Why should it be up to the paying customer to work through the database and find out who is available?

With www.oilandgaspeople.com candidates will be required to log in and update their profile and availability at least every 2 months or they won’t automatically appear in search results. We will never boast about how many outdated CV’s we have. Just how many high quality candidates profiles we have, who are actually available for work and actively looking!

Candidates can also benefit from our social networking site
http://www/oilandgascommunity.com which allows members to exchange information and network with oil and gas people around the world

There are many more reasons why we are better for recruiters and candidates. Don’t just take our word for it though. Sign up today and see for yourself!! www.oilandgaspeople.com

Marske to utilize new oil and gas recruitment solution

By Site Owner
Marske Site Services, a leading recruitment specialist in the Oil and Gas Industry has today announced that from early January 2010 they will be utilizing the services of an innovative new recruitment website www.oilandgaspeople.com

Marske’s Recruitment Business Manager for the UK, Lee Grimes said, ‘’We are delighted to be working with Oil and Gas People and to be included among the first recruitment companies to be using this fantastic new website. At Marske we are continually developing and looking for new solutions to enable us to offer our clients and candidates the best possible service. We believe that Oil and Gas Peoples’ new model will offer us not only a more efficient service, but also huge cost savings over current recruitment and job sites.’’

Managing Director of Oil and Gas People, Kevin Forbes responded, ‘’As a contractor who has worked for the last 6 years within the Oil Industry, I became frustrated at existing recruitment sites. They offer candidates very little in the way of service and only add to a recruiters work load, in that they have to spend a lot of time sorting through irrelevant CV’s, often received in response to traditional job ads.’’

Kevin went on to say, ‘’It’s sometimes hard to implement change and to introduce something new. Recruiters are used to the current offering of job sites to the point where they accept their flaws and the extra work they create. We are delighted that Marske can see our vision and that they are prepared to support the site from the offset.’’

www.oilandgaspeople.com aims to offer a more efficient service by allowing recruiters to post jobs for free on the site. Jobs posted will be automatically matched to suitable and available candidates and both sides will be required to confirm their interest in each other, before any candidates contact details are released. It’s a process that is totally free and allows recruiters the best possible chance of placing a candidate before they make a small payment to release matched candidates details.

Candidate’s profiles on the site are very detailed and only candidates who are actually available and actively looking for work will be shown. Candidates can link to their profiles using them as a free online CV and as a place where they can store all of their employment documents.

By removing the processing of hundreds of irrelevant CVs from a recruiter’s workload, Kevin Forbes hopes that candidate plus in essence, recruiters, shall once again be offered a more personal, direct and less time consuming service.  The old complaint regarding recruiters never getting back to candidates shall be placed in the past, along with the old-fashioned traditional job board models.

Each candidate selected for a position will receive regular updates through the site and they can be safe in the knowledge that they have full control over their personal details and will no longer be bothered with cold calls about irrelevant jobs.

More details about Marske Site Services can be viewed on their website www.marske.com and more details on why Oil and Gas People is better for recruiters and candidates can be found here http://www.oilandgaspeople.com/about.asp

New Powerful Recruitment Solution Is Set To Energise The Oil & Gas Industry

By Site Owner
Oilandgaspeople.JPG

A new recruitment site designed specifically for the oil and gas industries is set to revolutionise traditional employment resources and searching. Aberdeenshire based business - www.oilandgaspeople.com - aims to fundamentally change the oil and gas recruitment process by providing an accurate snap-shot of current vacancies, the workforce and its availability.

Oilandgaspeople.com provides a central point where recruiters can advertise the latest job vacancies and candidates upload their CVs.  The site, which goes live on 7th September 2009, will fast-track and facilitate the process of matching the right person to the right job benefiting the recruiter, the candidate, and the employer.

Having worked in the industry for over six years, oilandgaspeople.com developer, Kevin Forbes, used his experience of the sector and his frustrations with existing recruitment methods to devise and deliver a new alternative that aims to save time and money and increase candidate matching success.

He says: “I found the system of using numerous job sites to search for vacancies fragmented and frustrating.  I would regularly spend hours at a time searching for positions which became even more difficult when I was working offshore or abroad with limited internet access.

“I decided to take the issue into my own hands with a website to present my CV and background to potential employers and agencies directly.  As I saw immediate impact I expanded on the idea and www.oilandgaspeople.com is the end result.

“The launch of www.oilandgaspeople.com is good news for the industry during the economic downturn – it is a cost effective solution for recruiters at a time when reducing costs is of the utmost importance and it will also help those looking for work as they benefit from an efficient, free recruitment service.

Oilandgaspeople.com is a cost effective means of advertising for recruiters.  There is up to a 75% cost saving over traditional job sites and if a match is not made, there is no fee to pay.

When a new position is advertised, the site automatically matches candidates to the job, referring to the high quality, accurate and current candidate information it holds.  Recruiters then review candidate profiles, shortlist suitable candidates and ascertain who then wishes to be put forward for the job.

For candidates, using the site is completely free.  They build their own profile on the website and their personal details remain secure, only to be released when they agree to a recruiter recommending them for a position.  An additional feature of Oilandgaspeople is the Oil and Gas Community, where site members can chat in the forums; create events, form groups and network with other oil and gas people from all over the world.

Oilandgaspeople will be launching at Offshore Europe and can be found in the Boyd Orr Hall, stand number 1658 from 8th – 11th Sept 09

Kevin Forbes is also behind the website www.hsepeople.com which was launched earlier this year, giving health and safety professionals from around the world the opportunity to network and exchange information.

New Offshore Safety Chief in call to maintain high standards

By Site Owner

The UK's new offshore safety chief has warned the industry there is no room for complacency.

Steve Walker, who has just replaced Ian Whewekk as head of the Health and Safety Executives (HSE) offshore division, said he wants the regulator to be respected.

Meeting Industry at Offshore Europe in Aberdeen yesterday for the first "time in his new position, Walker said: ' Ian has left me an excellent legacy. Under his watch the industry did improve in its leadership of offshore health and safety... but one of my top priorities is to make sure the industry is not complacent with its current safety standards.

"I want the industry to deliver on its commitments to maintain safety."

Walker said he wants the HSE to be an efficient and effective regulator and hopes it will be respected by the industry. However, he raised concerns about spikes in the number of hydrocarbon releases and major accidents in the first quarter of this year.

Walker, who has been with the HSE for more than 30 years and in the offshore division since 2004 was responsible for running the organisation's recent and largely positive KP3 review into offshore safety.

"We gave the industry a pretty good message when the review was published in July but the Industry still has to keep its eye on the ball.

"I recognise the challenges in keeping aging installations fit for purpose at a time when industry is looking at the technical and cost demands of developing existing fields, especially in the context of the economic climate and the energy debate," he said.

Robert Paterson, the health and safety director of industry group Oil and Gas UK, said: "Over the last 21 years the industry has made huge progress in putting in place multiple barriers on its offshore installations to prevent escalation of dangerous occurrences and to reduce their impact.

Contitech Beattie Gives Safety The Gold Medal Treatment

By SallyPreston

CONTITECH BEATTIE GIVES SAFETY THE GOLD MEDAL TREATMENT

ContiTech Beattie Ltd’s has launched two new products to help with health and safety in the oil and gas industry, giving them the Gold Medal treatment at the prestigious Offshore Europe exhibition and conference.

Great Britain Olympic hero Victoria Pendleton joined the Ashington and Aberdeen-based market leader in hose technology for the oil and gas industry to help celebrate the launch.

The six times World Champion, Commonwealth Champion and Olympic Champion in track sprint attended the event in Aberdeen, one of the major showcasing events in the industry’s calendar.

Both of the new products have safety at the forefront of their design. While the first new product is specifically designed to be fire retardant, the second has built-in floatation capability.

The athlete’s success in the Beijing Games in 2008 reflect the company’s own Olympic Challenge of raising its turnover to £42 million by 2012 through further overseas sales growth, developing internal processes and developing new products and services

Victoria also uses inner tubes produced by ContiTech Beattie’s parent Continental group.

Andrew Esson, managing director of ContiTech Beattie, said: "Victoria Pendleton is a national sporting hero and her Olympic pedigree is an inspiration to our team who, like Victoria, have their own 2012 targets to achieve. It was a great honour to have someone who has achieved the highest standards time and again while burning rubber on the track launch our new hoses – one of which has been designed specifically so that the rubber does not to burn when deployed in its own field.

"The Floating Hoses mean that there is now no longer a need for a separate hose and floatation collar arrangement, making life easier for the customer who may previously have had to search for the right matching partnership.

"With the fire retardant hoses, the benefits are clear for customers who use our products for flammable environment. Safety is a priority in the oil and gas industry, so products like these are there to save lives and avoid disasters happening."

ContiTech Beattie’s Fire Rated Diesel Hose has been tested and is certified by Lloyds Register to OSG/1000/499 to withstand 700ºC for 30 minutes and its typical usage would be for fuel oil suction and delivery, with up to 50 per cent aromatic content. This hose design is also suitable for seawater, mud and other offshore applications, as well as long lasting bunkering applications.

This hose allows the safe use of oil/fuel suction and delivery in high fire risk areas.

High tensile textile cords with embedded steel helix wire and antistatic wires provide the reinforcement, while ozone and hydrocarbon resistant covers lie over layers of heat resistant fibre.

The Floating Hose range, offers Bulk Material, Diesel and Potable Water applications.  The range eliminates the need for cumbersome floatation collars, providing a high quality solution for floating bulk hose applications.

Integral buoyancy layers eliminate the need for separate tie-on floatation collars. This removes the possibility of the collars moving in service and affecting buoyancy, ensuring the satisfactory floatation and high visibility at all times is provided through appropriately coloured bands on the hose body, while removing the possibility of snagging under water.

The high tensile textile cord-reinforced hoses use multi-layers of PE foam for floatation and have black CR/BR blend, abrasion, ozone and hydrocarbon resistant covers.

ContiTech Beattie is a world leader in the design, manufacture and supply of flexible hose assemblies and associated hardware to the oil and gas sector. Originally formed in 1960 as Beattie Hydraulics Limited, a manufacturer of carbon steel hydraulic hose fittings, the firm rebranded from Phoenix Beattie Limited to ContiTech Beattie Limited in 2008 and now employs 97 people, including 82 in Ashington and 14 in Aberdeen, with one in Singapore.

Successful launch at Offshore Europe for new Oil and Gas recruitment site!

By Site Owner

Launching a brand new company at such a prestigious event as Offshore Europe would fear even experienced business men, but for Peterhead man, Kevin Forbes, it was the ideal launching platform for his new venture www.oilandgaspeople.com and an opportunity not to be missed!

Kevin a contractor, who works in the Oil and Gas Industry, became frustrated at the existing Oil and Gas recruitment sites and came up with the idea for Oilandgaspeople over a year ago. He says: “The launch at Offshore Europe was the result of over a years worth of research and months of web design work and testing. We consulted with lots of recruiters and agencies, to tweak the initial idea into what we have now. A solution that challenges the format followed by traditional job sites and offers a better more efficient service for Recruiters and Candidates.”

Oilandgaspeople allows candidates to build a profile. Essentially a complete insight into that candidates work history, qualifications, experience, training and requirements. Recruiters upload positions to the site for free and are automatically matched to available candidates. Candidates have to confirm they are interested in the position before a recruiter receives their edited CV for free.

This allows recruitment companies to put CV’s across to clients totally free of charge. The site even formats the CV and adds the recruitment company’s logo automatically. When a candidate is accepted for a position the recruiter simply logs in and pays a small fee for that candidates contact details. An unlimited access option is even available to larger recruitment companies that allows access to candidates contact details at an earlier stage.

Kevin says: “For years agencies have paid huge fees to other Oil Job sites, for access to what is essentially just a CV data base, and for posting job ads. Recruiters get very little for their money. Often the data base is out of date and recruiters still have to cold call potential candidates to find out who is available and who isn’t. When posting jobs, recruiters have to wait for candidates to reply and then sort through hundreds of CV’s, to root out the ones that meet their requirements. It’s a lengthy process and one that relies on the right candidate coming across their job posting in the first place.

Oilandgaspeople is essentially a dating service for candidates and recruiters. We ensure that candidates never miss out on a job that they meet the requirements for. Likewise for recruiters in that they find candidates instantly who meet their exact requirements. No more waiting for candidates to reply to ads, no more sorting through hundreds of CV’s and cold calling potential candidates. Just instant free matches and a very reasonable fee at the final stage, if the candidate is placed!

www.oilandgaspeople.com is live to candidates now and will go live to recruiters from the 5th of October 2009. The site has many advanced and innovative features that genuinely make’s it better for recruiters, better for candidates and better for oil and gas people. As part of Oilandgaspeople, a new social networking and community site specific to the Oil Industry has also been launched. Join today for free at www.oilandgascommunity.com

Oilandgaspeople announces the launch of new networking site for anyone in the Oil and Gas industry

By Site Owner

Mail Chimp Banner New.PNG

Social networking is growing more popular every day, LinkedIn, Facebook, Bebo, Twitter and others, have fast became a part of our every day lives. The ability to network and connect with like minded people all over the world is not only a great way to socialise and keep in touch with friends; it is also a very powerful business and marketing tool.

Lots of small companies and even some larger ones are releasing the power of the web and using it as a way of generating interest in their business. Lots of companies now recruit on social networking sites and the chances are if you don’t have an online presence you are probably missing out.

All of the above are reasons why people join such sites. www.oilandgaspeople.com hopes to take it a step further. We believe social networking could be used to improve safety within the oil and gas industry. In terms of safety, some countries are much further ahead than others, some companies have strict policies in place, and others have next to none. The standard varies from country to country and from individual to individual.

It comes down to training, knowledge and education. We see the same accidents occurring time and time again. Often those involved will say they ‘didn’t know’ or ‘weren’t aware’ Accidents and incidents that probably would have been avoided, if only we had managed to learn from other peoples lessons and mistakes.

Let’s use the powers of social networking to share lessons learned and to educate others in the industry. Wouldn’t it be great to have a massive resource of people from all aspects of the oil industry? A bank of knowledge and information that can be tapped at any time! From every day tasks to huge projects, you can bet someone has done it before. They may know a better way, a product you wasn’t aware of or a procedure that could save you time, money and improve safety.

The industry is ever changing, ever developing and pushing the barriers of new technology every day. It’s impossible to keep track with everything. Let’s use social networking to expand our knowledge, share our experiences and to improve safety across the board.

www.oilandgaspeople.com is not just another oil and gas jobs site. It has been created by oil and gas people, for oil and gas people! As part of the site and to prove our commitment to the industry, we are proud to announce the launch of www.oilandgascommunity.com a brand new social networking site for anyone working in oil and gas.

It doesn’t matter where you work or what you do, we are confident you will have something to bring to the table. We are going to be developing the site over the coming months and hope to include lots of pages with information, lessons learned, new technology, industry news etc, etc…

People can post requests for help and information on the forums. Join groups of like minded people, create events, chat instantly with other members, share information through blogs and build a profile advertising their company.

If you work in health and safety our sister site www.hsepeople.com will also be very relevant to you. HSE people is a well established community site that will give people an insight into the potential of www.oilandgascommunity.com

Hope to see you all there soon.

New oil and gas recruitment solution to offer a more efficient service for recruiters and candidates

By Site Owner

Oil and Gas.PNG

With the current down turn in the oil industry and a recent trend for pay cuts and pay offs, a record number of people in the industry are now seeking employment. The decline in oil prices has lead to projects being put on hold and some projects being cancelled altogether. Major oil companies are looking to reduce costs, and in doing so are cutting their work force.

This has an immediate impact on the recruitment industry, with some recruitment companies reporting half the amount of positions and double the amount of available candidates, compared to this time last year. With the market even more competitive than ever before recruitment companies are also looking to cut costs. Unfortunately this isn’t so easy as in a down turn, recruitment agencies work loads actually increase, as more people seek employment.

Most recruitment companies covering the oil and gas sector use sites like oilcareers and oilandgasjobsearch to find candidates and advertise positions. These sites are so well established that they are a must have resource for recruitment companies. They charge extortionate rates and do nothing to help recruiters cut costs. They know there model works and they know recruiters have to use them, as there is no alternative! Until now…

www.oilandgaspeople.com is a new recruitment site developed by Kevin Forbes, a contractor who works in the Oil Industry. Kevin seen the problems faced by recruiters and also the frustration faced by candidates seeking work. He says: “Oilandgaspeople fills a gap in the market and offers a solution that is genuinely better for recruiters and candidates”.

No longer do recruiters have to pay for job postings and access to a database. Candidates benefit by being automatically matched to positions that they meet the requirements for. Candidates don’t have to browse for new jobs every day and they will never miss out on suitable positions. Recruiters don’t need to wait for candidates to reply to job postings and no longer have to sort through hundreds of irrelevant CV’s often received in response to job ads.

The best thing is the above process is totally free, with recruiters only ever paying a fee when they have a candidate match. There are no hidden fees and the site includes many features that other job sites charge for, for free!

Oilandgaspeople has been created from a clean slate; the site follows a new model and has been designed to offer a better solution for candidates and recruiters. We aim to be the largest oil and gas job site, which we will achieve by working with recruiters and candidates, listening to feedback received and building a site that works for Oil and Gas People and not for the media companies profiting vastly from other sites!

To prove our commitment to the industry we have also launched a community site that will allow oil and gas people the world over to network and exchange information. www.oilandgascommunity.com aims to create safer work environments by allowing oil and gas people world wide to learn from each others experiences, mistakes, lessons learned and to share advances in technology and improved work methods.

www.oilandgaspeople is live to candidates now and will be live to recruiters soon.

More information on how the site benefits recruiters and candidates can be found here http://www.oilandgaspeople.com/about.asp
